The 20th National Forum on Directors of Electronic Information Engineering Colleges in Universities

The 20th National Forum of Deans of Electronics and Information Schools in Higher Education Institutions was held at Harbin Institute of Technology from September 12 to 14, 2025, organized by SEIE. Shen Yi, Member of the University Standing Committee and Vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The opening ceremony and the main forum sessions were presided over by Zhao Yaqin, Executive Dean of the Undergraduate School and Dean of the Honors School at Harbin Institute of Technology. More than 150 deans and experts from over 50 electronics and information schools across the country gathered at Harbin Institute of Technology. Under the theme Looking Back on 20 Years, Reviewing the '14th Five-Year Plan', Planning for the '15th Five-Year Plan', and Promoting the Construction of First-Class Schools, they engaged in extensive sharing and lively discussions on the high-quality development of electronics and information schools.

Shen Yi stated that the National Forum of Deans of Electronics and Information Schools is an important platform for promoting disciplinary development, advancing talent cultivation, and strengthening inter-university collaboration. At present, a new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation is deepening, and the electronics and information field, as a leading force, is increasingly gaining strategic prominence. He expressed that the attending deans and experts would take this forum as an opportunity to exchange ideas, stimulate vitality, and jointly plan for progress. Harbin Institute of Technology will work together with fellow universities to advance the collaborative development of electronics and information disciplines across institutions, enhance the quality of talent cultivation in the field, foster a robust atmosphere for scientific research and innovation in electronics and information within China, and effectively promote the higher-quality development of electronics and information schools nationwide.

Professor Wang Chengxiang, Dean of the School of Information Science and Engineering at Southeast University and a member of the Fourth Executive Committee of the National Forum of Deans of Electronics and Information Schools, reviewed the forum's 20-year development journey and key achievements. During the forum, Vice President Shen Yi and Professor Zhu Hongbo from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications presented commemorative plaques to former members of the forum's executive committee. Professor Wang Jinlong from the Army Engineering University of the PLA presented commemorative plaques to deans who had previously hosted the forum on behalf of their institutions.

During the main forum, Professor Niu Zhisheng from Tsinghua University, Professor Chi Nan from Fudan University, Professor Wang Jintao from Tsinghua University, Professor Li Deshi from Wuhan University, Professor Guo Yongxin from City University of Hong Kong, and Professor Cheng Yujian from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China delivered keynote speeches, respectively titled: Information Discipline Cluster: Development Through Interdisciplinary Integration, Innovation and Practice of AI-Driven Talent Cultivation Models for Professional Degrees in Electronics and Information, Exploring the Internationalization of Electronics and Information Disciplines Under New Circumstances, Explorations in Talent Cultivation and Department Governance in the New Era, Reflections on Educational Internationalization and New Paths and Practices for Discipline and Research Exploration in Electronics and Information Schools Driven by Artificial Intelligence, and Forging the Soul Through Party Building, Empowering Development, and Nurturing Talent with Craftsmanship—The Sustained Exemplary and Leading Role of the First Batch of National University Party Building Benchmark Colleges.

The forum also featured three parallel panel sessions, chaired respectively by Professor Peng Yu, Dean of the School of Electronics and Information Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology, Professor Wang Chengxiang, Dean of the School of Information Science and Engineering at Southeast University, and Professor Lu Huchuan, Executive Dean of the Future Technology College at Dalian University of Technology. The participating experts engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions around themes such as School Governance and Construction for the 15th Five-Year Plan, International Exchanges and Cooperation in Higher Education in the New Era, and Planning and Development of First-Class Disciplines.
